Learning Objectives

Search Elements builds on the lessons learned in  part one (Culture Clash) and part two (Odor Theory) and applies them to the specific search elements encountered in competitions. 

Key Features

Each Element has a different chapter devoted to it, and the crucial factors that affect the different environments are explained. This class utilizes pictures, easy to understand explanations, and videos to illustrate concepts.  The material is segmented into lessons for easy digestibility --you can start and stop at will. There are interactive quizzes scattered throughout so that you can consolidate your knowledge and activate understanding.

Who This Class is For

This course is for anyone training or competing in scent work or nose work, using essential oil target odors (birch, anise, clove, cypress, myrrh, vetiver).  It strongly suggested that you take Seeing Through Your Dog's Nose Part One - The Culture Clash, and Part Two - Odor Theory, before taking this class.

I am a scent work trainer, instructor, competitor, student, and judge in many venues (AKC, UKC, USCSS, ASCA). I have been teaching for about ten years and competing for longer than that. I am fascinated by the science of scent, and how dogs perceive it. By far the most difficult thing about teaching is getting students to understand the nature of odor and what the dogs are doing when they are searching. These classes are a compilation of my knowledge about the odors we use in sports detection
