Ellen and her dog Astra

Ellen Heavner

I am a scent work trainer, instructor, competitor, student, and judge in many venues (AKC, UKC, USCSS, ASCA). I have been teaching for about ten years and competing for longer than that. I am fascinated by the science of scent, and how dogs perceive it. By far the most difficult thing about teaching is getting students to understand the nature of odor and what the dogs are doing when they are searching. These classes are a compilation of my knowledge about the odors we use in sports detection.
